Oven exhaust volumes are typically chosen to suit the purge volume requirements to allow air changes in a reasonable amount of time, which leaves the oven in an over ventilated condition during normal operation. Modern energy efficient ovens typically include a Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) to allow distinct operating modes for purge and operational exhaust volumes. The energy savings available by incorporating a VFD into an oven exhaust control system can be an attractive retrofit for older ovens that are still operating well.
